Make a beautifully sounding gourd rainstick!
Call in the rain clouds this summer with a gourd rain stick.
Using a 12” to 14” Snake gourd you will be creating the “sound of falling rain” when it is slowly turned upside down. With the use of wire to help slow the “noise makers” you will learn how to cut, clean, place the wire and the “rain makers”, put your rain stick back together and then CREATE your design on the outside of the gourd with dyes, acrylics, leather and embellishments.
Cleaning of the gourd.
Proper cutting techniques , sanding and safety issues.
Use of dyes and a dot technique with acrylics.

Bring a Lunch and dress warm
A cleaned and prepped gourd will be provided.
If student has a woodburning tool, dust/paint mask & apron, they should bring them.
A tutorial along with other info will be available as handouts.
