Paint a landscape in Watercolor! Learn how to set up a palette, what watercolor paper is best, brushes and their care; basic composition using photographs; use of color, texture, and perspective; how watercolor is different from oils or acrylics.

  • Discussion and demo on watercolor paper, palette, and brushes
  • Color wheel – what colors make what colors
  • How to paint three dimensional objects in perspective
  • How to take a photograph and make it your own composition
  • Basic compositional elements: center of interest, perspective, textures, color intensity, contrast
  • Demonstrations throughout day
  • Time to paint one or two watercolors
  • Final critique

Materials provided or bring your own favorites

Paper, palette, brushes, and water are provided.
Please bring a lunch (filtered water, tea, coffee provided).

About the Artist:
Southwest watercolor artist Jan Wright has lived in the Mancos area for nine years, having exhibited in Artisans of Mancos all that time.

She has produced over 25 one-woman exhibits throughout Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Texas in her 44 years of being an exhibiting artist.
