SouthWEST LANDSCAPES IN WATERCOLOR FOR ALL LEVELS

Create landscapes in watercolor with Mancos artist Jan Wright in her unique earthen roof home studio overlooking the dramatic Mesa Verde Range. We will paint for three hours, three consecutive Saturdays, learning overlaying of washes for dramatic skies, creating form with shadows and textures, and painting detail to bring your watercolor paintings to life.

All skill levels worked with individually.

Saturday / May 6th/ 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Saturday / May 13th/ 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

CLASS DAY OBJECTIVES:
Class 1: washes, skies, laying out a landscape
Class 2: textures, shadows, form
Class 3: perspective in landscape, canyons

COST:
$120.00 per person

Artist Studio / Mancos, Colorado / Email for directions

Minimum 3 students; Maximum 5 students

MATERIALS:
Supplies acquired by student; a suggested materials list below.

Watercolor paper – at least 2 sheets 22 x 30″ (Arches preferred)or watercolor paper block of desired size

Brushes (minimum required) – 1 inch flat, 1/4 inch flat or wedge (angled), small round for detail

White palette with wells for paint

Water bowl (quart size)

Paper towels

Photos of landscapes student desires to paint

Tube watercolors (minimum)

– Burnt umber
– Burnt sienna
– Raw sienna
– Antwerp blue (or Prussian blue)
– New Gamboge yellow (or closest to it)
– Alizarin crimson
– Green of choice (optional)
– Others of choice
